Also, I think training is something we should improve. They chose a CRM that was far too advanced for the existing skill level of the team who were supposed to use it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe sales department said that insufficient attention was given to training, leaving them ill-equipped to leverage the system&#8217;s modules effectively. The outcome? The CRM essentially became an overpriced contact list\u2014a glorified Excel spreadsheet\u2014failing to deliver the value it was intended to provide,\u201d Bronowska added.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A similar situation took place at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.technolynx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TechnoLynx<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The company\u2019s Founder and CEO, Bal\u00e1zs Keszthelyi, told us that they chose a system with a variety of features, believing that this would actually drive the team to use the CRM effectively. \u201cHowever, we soon realized that the complexity of the software led to frustration among team members, which resulted in low adoption rates\u201d, Keszthelyi said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In hindsight, he admits that the company\u2019s leadership focused too strongly on what they <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thought<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> met the company\u2019s needs, without seeking input from customer-facing teams. \u201cWe should have also prioritized a user-friendly interface over the number of tool capabilities\u201d, Keshzthelyi concluded.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tip:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Make sure the CRM solutions you\u2019re considering work for your sales and customer service department\u2019s daily tasks. Treating price as a deciding factor<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When considering <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how to choose a CRM system<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, affordability is always a crucial factor. But going with a tool just because it has the lowest cost out of all options (or is free in its basic version) could quickly backfire.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/linkedin.com\/in\/Lokenauth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andrew Lokenauth<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Founder of TheFinanceNewsletter.com and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/befluentinfinance.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fluent in Finance<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, says he fell into this trap in the past. \u201cI forgot to factor in training costs, didn&#8217;t consider the hidden fees for extra users, and missed calculating integration costs with other tools\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kevin Huffman, Owner of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kriminiltrading.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kriminil Trading<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, had a similar story. He told us that the decision to choose a solution based on its price led the sales team to a radical move, i.e., abandoning the CRM altogether and going back to spreadsheets and email.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He says that initially, for the number of features it offered, the price of the tool seemed very attractive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Marketing automation, powerful reporting, project management tools \u2013 we had all that under one roof. But it quickly became clear that this feature overflow wasn\u2019t a fit for our business. Also, the reporting in the CRM, while extensive, was unsuited to our requirements. We were drowning in data that wasn\u2019t useful and it was challenging to calculate KPIs and track sales performance. Emily Hayes, CRM Consultant for ConvergeHub, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/What-are-some-of-the-common-CRM-mistakes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rightly points out<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that companies don\u2019t pay enough attention to the CRM\u2019s onboarding process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThey introduce CRM very abruptly in the process and do not hold any explanatory sessions with the employees. This leads to slow user adoption and difficulties in aligning the organizational culture with CRM,\u201d said Hayes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She added that a lot of a company\u2019s planning for a CRM focuses on licenses, custom development, and deployment. \u201cOnboarding and training, however, are often underappreciated. Training hundreds or thousands of people is tough and expensive, and takes a ton of time. Once development gets delayed and extra costs are added on top, this gets escalated internally and staff immediately gets under pressure,\u201d said Hayes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tip: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a clear implementation plan to support your business goals, and invest in training to help your team get the most out of the system.
